BROTHER TO HELP BEGINNERS WHIP UP QUICK QUILTING PROJECTS

Brother is getting new starters involved in the exciting world of quilting in time for the Festival of Quilts by teaming up with online craft guru Cat Morley. The sewing and quilting specialist has partnered with Cat, who runs her own online craft community, Cut Out + Keep, to produce two stylish, modern quilt designs that are accessible to quilters of all levels.

Free from 1 August
The two patterns will be available to download for free from Brother’s website from 1 August, giving new and experienced quilters plenty of time to get stuck in ahead of Festival of Quilts, which runs from 20 – 23 August at the NEC in Birmingham.

Cat’s created a funky yet functional bedspread quilt and some on-trend union-jack pillow cases with a girly twist, especially for Brother.  “One of the best things about running a site like Cut Out + Keep is seeing people get excited about discovering and perfecting a new skill, then sharing that with others.  Crafting should be about people getting involved.  Of course there are always going to be experts producing fantastically intricate pieces of work, but there should always be opportunities for inexperienced crafters to try their hands at something new,” said Cat.

“These projects should allow people to get involved with quilting without feeling intimidated by taking on something as large as a bedspread.  You assemble it piece by piece and watch the whole thing come together gradually, so there’s no danger of feeling overwhelmed.  If it introduces more people to what is, in my opinion, a fantastic hobby, then we’re heading in the right direction,” she added

Cat’s own website now has over 50,000 members who regularly log on to share their crafting ideas and learn from each other.  Between them, they’ve now posted over 25,000 projects on the site.

Details: Just visit www.brothersewing.eu/uk/patternsandprojects from 1 August to download and then get quilting.
