Ribbon Rosette
Make some easy ribbon rosettes to decorate your shoes, bags or as pretty corsages. You can make them in minutes and only need a length of ribbon and matching thread
For a gathered ribbon rosette with a diameter of 5.5 cm, we used 25 mm wide ribbon. Larger rosettes can be made with wider ribbon and of course, smaller ones with a narrow ribbon.
Materials
50 cm of 25 mm wide ribbon (1/2 yd of 1”)
Bead or diamante
Matching thread
To make up
1. Cut ribbon to 50 cm in length

2. Thread a needle with double thread and knot the ends. Turn under 5 mm (1/4”) at one end of the ribbon and secure with several backstitches. Then, using running stitch, sew along the bottom edge of the ribbon, gathering up the fabric as you go.

3. When you have sewn to the other end of the ribbon, turn the raw end under and finish by pulling up your stitches tightly to gather the ribbon into a rosette. Secure the stitching firmly with several backstitches.
4. Sew the ends of the ribbon together. Don’t cut the thread, but use it to stitch the rosette in place and sew a bead or button into the centre to finish it.
